US Ice Hockey Olympian Cammi Granato’s Food Sensitivity Story
I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of amazing people over the years. Whether it is a mom struggling to find answers to her child’s health, learning, or behaviour problems or a high level athlete looking to improve their performance, the story is usually the same. The history shows symptoms that began in early childhood such as ear infections, tummy aches, ADHD, learning disabilities, and a host of other problems. Rather than outgrow these problems, they morph and change as the child grows and can often create severe challenges in adult life.
In the Vancouver Sun several years ago, there was an article on Cammi Granato and the work I did with her and her children. The original article has disappeared from the Vancouver Sun archives but has been reposted many times and can be found at this link. Her symptoms began in childhood with fatigue, mouth sores, and tummy aches. She came to me years later seeking help for her two boys. By removing dairy products and gluten from her diet and eggs from the diet of one of her sons, the entire family has a renewed sense of health and well-being. In the article, Cammi expresses disappointment that she didn’t discover the underlying cause for her challenges years ago. She even wonders how it might have affected her hockey!! She is, however, grateful for the difference it has made in the health of her two boys and her husband.
So, if you are a parent with a child suffering from a runny nose, diarrhea, recurrent ear or sinus infections, fatigue, asthma, difficult behaviour or learning challenges, please consider the possibility that food might be the cause. If you are an adult, it is never too late to address some of the symptoms that have plague you throughout your life. The Evans Food Sensitivity Assessment Tool will help you determine if food might be part of the underlying cause of your child’s symptoms as well as your own and guide you through the process of identifying the trigger food responsible.
