Bullying and Kids With Food Sensitivities

All kids are at risk for being bullied as bullies seem able to take the most normal topic and turn it upside down to become an insult. Arming our kids with strategies and ways of coping when they fall pray to someone’s unkind remarks is now a required skill of parenting.

Children with food sensitivities sometimes have behaviours or other challenges that increase the likelihood of them being bullied. If you help your kids address their food issues when they are young, you will go a long way toward helping them avoid some of the unkind remarks of insensitive classmates. Whether they struggle with learning, if their ADHD behaviours get them in trouble often, or they have some unusual symptoms such as picking their irritated nose or passing offensive gas, helping them eliminate these symptoms will also help them feel better about themselves and decrease the unkind comments of others.

Have a watch of this video and see if you feel it might be appropriate to show your child. It may help them to see that they are not alone.  The link to the video is here.
